Yarn: Knit Picks Shine [60% pima cotton, 40% modal; 110 yds/ 101 m per 50g skein]; color: 23621 Sky; 1 skein - and - Knit Picks Shine [60% pima cotton, 40% modal; 110 yds/ 101 m per 50g skein]; color: 23619 Turquoise; less than 1 skein

Care: machine wash cold, tumble dry low

Needles: US 4 / 3.50 mm double-points, US 4 / 3.50 mm straight

Pattern: Ruth Homrighaus

Modifications: I used more MC than CC with the harness so I could finally purge it from my stash! I also didn't have safety eyes, so I embroidered them on using embroidery floss in navy blue.

Here he is in all his glory. I dub thee "Turtle". There is a story behind this name, although it's probably still a silly choice. When I was in Greece this summer, there was a turtle who lived at Rooms Marinos, up the street from where I stayed (Tassos). Every evening before retiring to bed, I would play with the turtle and talk to it as if it could actually respond to me. (I'm all better now!) But I really miss Turtle, so when I saw the pattern for Sheldon, I knew I had to make him. While he may have a slight case of gargantua, I still think he's precious:)

Tonight my friend Heidi and I went to see the movie, The Jane Austen Book Club. If you like girlie movies with good acting and Jane Austen, you must see this film. It made me want to start up a book club of my own! Plus I have read every Jane Austen novel at least once if not multiple times. Perhaps I will create a Jane Austen meme later in the week to share with everyone:)

My dissertation prospectus is due in the next week or so, so the rotating will have to slow to a slight crawl. Last week at SNB, I actually worked on the Scala Socks and My First Aran Afghan. I am almost finished with sock #1 of Scala (!!!), so I will continue on that this week, and then switch over to My Raglan Sweater for a bit. Oh, did I mention that a vital source for my dissertation showed up at the library in microfiche format! A dissertation from 2003! Microfiche. And to add insult to injury, it's 814 pages in French and I have to either move into the library permanently, or photocopy the entire thing!!!!!! Kill me now...
